From Victor:
According to your bio, you were born in the USA, you live in the USA, yet you appear to have Canadian citizenship - at least the CFL lists you as Canadian. Can you explain this 'Canadianess' to me?
Victor,
No problem. I don't have Canadian citizenship. For the purposes of the Canadian foootball league, a player is considered a non-import if they played their first football in Canada - which I did. I played my high school football in Windsor, Ontario. For this reason I am an American citizen with non-import status for the purposes of the league.
Hope that helps.

From Judy Hunt:
I realize pre-game nutrition would be a very individual thing, but I'd like to hear about what foods are usually chosen, when and why, and to understand the theory behind "carb loading" ? Does game-weather make a difference? Also, do the big, more static players tend to chose different diets from the runners?? Thank you so much, best wishes for tomorrow,
Hello Judy,
Glad that you've made your way over to the Eskimo side of things! As for your questions; Pre-game nutrition is completely an individual choice for the players. You're correct in thinking that linemen eat more than the skill players, mostly because their positions require that the need to maintain certain weights in order to perform well. Carb-loading is just the ingestion of plenty of carbohydrates a day or two before a game. This is done because the energy that your body will be using for the game comes from what you eat almost two days before the performance. Much like an automobile, the cleaner the energy that you put into the vehicle or body - the better it will perform for you. Garbage in...garbage out. Game day weather only makes a difference in diet involving hydration. When the weather is going to be very hot, it's in the players best interest to pump plenty of fluids in the days prior. I and many of my teammates have taken to drinking a bottle or two of pedialyte which is an electrolyte loaded drink given hydrate infants or prevent them from dehydration. Hydration is essential to prevent cramping or worse.
