From Matt:

Hey, i saw some of your other messages and heard that your wife had the baby, congratulations, and did u name him Cassius like you said you were?

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the congratulations, and yes we did name our son Cassius. My wife was able to sneak her favorite name into his as well in his middle name which is Julian. I'm just waiting until they release my wife and Cassius from the hospital so that I can have them both at home. Then I can get back to work!

From Mary-Anne, Tim, Amy & Andrew:

Hi Kamau, We\'re in Jasper and read on esks.com that you are now a Dad. I wish you lots of sleep and patience for the next few years. See you on Fan Day !! Amy says she is not missing out this year. God bless your little boy!

Thanks Mary-Anne,

I certainly appreciate the kind words from your family. I'm sure you'll see him at a game or two this year, you won't be able to miss him...he'll be wearing the smallest Peterson jersey ever made!

From Darren:

Yo KP! Congrats to you and your wife on your new addition to the family. The saying in sports is that the game is just as much mental as it is physical. To that end, I have a couple of questions about the rough stretch that you went through while with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. 1) Do you feel you were overthinking things during that stretch and possibly making it worse? 2) Did it take a resolved mental toughness to get out of the funk or did it just occur naturally? All the best to you my man and have another great season!

Hey Darren,

To be honest,

I've thought about that stretch a lot, and I honestly feel that for me it started out physical, and ended up mental. When I came back from the NFL I was carrying NFL weight and it was almost 40lbs heavier than I'd ever played at before. When you get to that league often times they like to expand your frame to make you more versatile in terms of how they can use you, but at 235lbs...I simply couldn't move athletically the way that I was used to moving. That affected my comfort level in getting and adjusting to a lot of the balls that I was trying to get to. After a few games went on and I still didn't feel comfortable in my own pads, I definitely started to question what was going on. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the weight was such a big change until I had already asked for the Hamilton trade; better late than never though I suppose. From that experience I learned that bigger is not always better. I do think that it takes some intestinal fortitude as well as a certain self assuredness to get through something like that, but I've never questioned my ability. The key for me was identifying what was different in my game that set it on a downward motion...and then correcting it.
